I made a declaration at the start of the year to try to be a bit more creative with my photography. Not exactly a new year’s resolution, but an effort to find new ways of photographing what’s around me. My most recent experiment has been oil & water abstracts.
There are many wonderful examples online, complete with tips and tricks to achieve sharp, colourful images. Below are a few I’ve taken over the last week. I used olive oil and sesame oil (they interact with water differently) in a glass with a little bit of washing up liquid. I put different coloured origami paper underneath the glass and shot in the morning using natural light or in the evening using a slow shutter speed and a torch to light the side of the glass. I hope you like them.
